The Role


Due to recent growth and expansion Medivet have an opportunity for a vet to join the team at our practice in Osmaston road, Derby.

Our veterinary surgeons are at the front line of delivering exceptional care and play an integral part of each one of our sites, from routine health checks to advanced surgeries you’ll work directly with clients and their pets to offer care that’s bespoke to them.

The practice is well equipped to help grow your talents or to support new graduates, we have a diverse case load – no two days are the same! Salary package of up to £65,000 PA

We can also support Certificates of Sponsorship for a Tier 2 (General) Visa if you meet the criteria and are eligible to register as a veterinary surgeon with the RCVS upon arrival in the UK.

This is a permanent, full-time role working 39 hours a week over four days with 1:4 Saturdays and no out of hours. We’re open to being flexible where we can so get in touch and let us know what works for you.

Key accountabilities


  • Ensure all team members provide quality and ethical care to all clients and their pets/livestock.
  • Assess and examine and diagnose patients’ medical issues
  • Perform surgery, dress and treat wounds.
  • Perform diagnostic laboratory, imaging and ultrasound testing where required.
  • Prescribe medication.
  • Promote preventative care by advocating and administering routine vaccinations and immunisations.
  • Educate clients on positive lifestyle choices for pets/livestock.
  • Euthanise patients.
  • Ensure compliance with veterinary ethics and relevant statutes, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain patients medical records.


Skills and experience


  • Registered with the RCVS.
  • Qualified MRCVS.
  • Commitment to animal welfare.
  • Ability to keep on top of practice protocols and procedures.
  • Excellent organisational skills.

Based in Derby city centre we are a highly rated, progressive practice with a fantastic team ethos. Our lead vet holds advanced practitioner status in small animal surgery and has a special interest in orthopaedic surgery and we have a very well established team who are a really friendly bunch and passionate about making a real difference to our clients and patients’ lives.
